Colonial Societies

In each of the three colonial societies that formed after the Columbian Exchange being a woman would have been a downside to your life, but more so in some societies than others. As a woman in Aztec societies I would have been looked down upon by any male and if I was not of European decent, though I am, I would have looked to have a child with a Spanish man in order for that child and myself to not have the abuse and the lives that the native people experienced. As a woman in the Brazilian society I would have been discouraged from having a family and staying with them and possibly have been torn away from my own children. This is why I would have wanted to live in British Colonies in North America. In the British Colonies, as a woman, I would still not be able to attend school or become a minister, but I would be able to stay with my family and keep my children. My land would be owned and controlled by my family, though mainly by the male of the family, and not by the government as it is in some of the other societies. Given the gender inequality during the time of these societies I would not like to live in any of these societies, but given the choice I would choose the British Colonies in North America.
